We picked a BEAUTIFUL day to head up to the mountains for apple picking.
The kids spent more time running around the playground than picking apples. It was even chilly in the shade!
And they're OFF !!
We decided to go EARLY in the season this year - as last year was a bust for actually picking apples. We were not disappointed. The apples were practically falling off the trees at ankle height - perfect for our pickers. We picked Galas and Honey Crisps.
Garrett called this little area his "forest".
It only took us about 15 minutes to pick 1/2 bushel of apples. Of course another highlight of the trip is apple slushies and apple doughnuts.
We were surprised to hear of the earthquake in Mineral, VA that was felt down in Charlotte, but we didn't feel a thing up in the mountains!
This little butterfly kept following us around.
The apples - yummmmm. Apple pie, apple crisp, apple doughnuts, apples for juicing . . .
And yes, we did make it home with 2.5 doughnuts - but they were gone after dinner!

YAY!! Can't wait to head up there ourselves!! Love that How Tall this Fall sign! Great pics & looks like it was a beautiful day!!
