Day 4: God made the Sun, Moon & Stars.
We checked out a great video from the library called "All About Planets - Space Science for Children". It was 30-40 minutes. Garrett liked the illustration of how big the sun was compared to the planets that they did using a HUGE pizza as the sun and various "toppings" for each of the planets. The video was produced in 1999 when Pluto was still a planet. A little hard for him to comprehend why it wasn't anymore - they now classify as a 'dwarf planet'.
These are Galaxies. 1/2 water; 1/4 baby oil & glitter

Day 5: Genesis 1:20-23 ~ "Then God said, 'Let the water be filled with living things, and let birds fly in the air above the earth'
I tried to convince Joe that we needed a fish for this illustration, but as many of you know Joe has a strict"no pets" rule - so we opted for a nice little bird feeder.
Day 6: God made Man & Animals
Garrett had a great time making this egg carton craft representing all kinds of people. We sang ~ "Red and Yellow, Black and White, They are precious in his sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world".
Day 7: Genesis 2:1-3 ~ "So the sky, the earth & all that filled them were finished. by the seventh day God finished the work he he'd been doing, so he rested from all his work. God blessed the seventh day and made it a holy day, because on that day he rested from all the work he had done in creating the world."
We had been coloring numbers that represented each day of creation. When I pulled out #7 that was blank and asked, "What do you think God did on Day 7?" ~ Garrett, "Umm, Nothing" - You're RIGHT - he was all done so he rested!
OK - so now it's time for us to rest. We had a great first week - a little 'craft heavy' and at this rate we could have over 400+ crafts for the year - so I think we'll slow it down a bit in the weeks to come!
Week #2 coming the week of August 29th - The Sun!
