The second reason for living in North Carolina ~ our close proximity to the mountains. Just a 2 hour drive leads us to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Since the temperature in Charlotte has been heating up close to 90, we decided a day trip to the mountains would be a great way to stay cool.

The paths are shaded and aren't too difficult to maneuver - even on a crowded weekend. The temperature was about 15 degrees cooler on the mountain too - a big plus for us!
The walk to the three overlook spots took a little over an hour to complete and at the top we saw this:
It was a great Memorial Day weekend trip and one I'm sure we'll do again soon.

Great pics & what a fun way to spend a Memorial Day!! It looks so gorgeous & your kids are darling, too!
