A few weeks ago we took a mini-vacation to Florida. First stop, St. Augustine.
A quick 5 hour drive and we were in the 85 degree heat, changing into our shorts and applying sunscreen. Our first stop was the beautiful St. Augustine lighthouse.
Olivia wanted to register as an official guest before we headed up the stairs.
Here we are getting ready to ascend our 219 step journey to the top.
Good thing there was a landing every 20 steps or so because Liv got a little freaked out at the height, but trudged up all the same.
When we reached the top, this is the view I captured. I would have spent more time taking pictures, however, there were 48 mph winds clocked up there. The kids weren't allowed outside due to the winds and I had to hold on the railing just to get this shot.
After the lighthouse, we headed back over the Lions Bridge to the fort. Garrett of course wanted to be in charge of the map (check out the pen on his collar - can you say pocket protector in his future?)
The fort was hot and well, a fort. Lots of stone and cannons and more dark rooms and cannons.
The kids didn't think these beds would have been too comfortable to sleep in.
Although we did take Garrett out of school, we did manage to visit the oldest school house in the US - does that count??
One night in St. Augustine ~ next stop Grammy & Poppy's condo in Clearwater.
