Tangled Fun (Part I)

Olivia asked for a Tangled party for her 5th birthday - and since we do "5th" parties BIG around here - I knew I had to have some help with ideas for this one.  I found a lot of ideas here and my mom and I did some copy cat crafting.

Disney had lots of printables for the sun symbol used in the Tangled movie.  I used these to line the sidewalk as the girls arrived.

After a big tangled mess, I managed to braid a 15 foot braid for the front door.  Warning - do not attempt this alone - it was very hard :)

We made TONS of purple lanterns out of scrapbook paper (32 to be exact) to replicate the lanterns that were released to search for the "lost princess" in the movie Tangled.

After reading several blogs, I decided instead of braiding more yarn for the ceilings to use 100 feet of yellow plastic tablecloth.  It went up easy and I used command strips to make hooks on the wall where needed.  It gave a great dramatic effect of Rapunzel's looooooooong hair.

The dining room became our craft station.  We made Pascal party blowers and ribbon hand kites.

Mom (aka Nana) decided to tackle the making of the Tangled Tower.  We used pecan spins stacked on a wooden dowel and decorated a sugar cone with purple sprinkles for the tower top.

For the cake, I ordered an edible cake topper.  These are GREAT.  I've ordered them for both of them every year.  It's a sugar frosted sheet printed with edible ink.  You simply ice the cake with frosting and lay the image on top and it "melts in" to the cake.  GENIUS!  I ordered mine from http://www.cakes4cause.com/.

Here's the finished tower.  I think Nana did a FABULOUS job!

The rest of the party details to be continued . . .
