This year we had two very different characters for Halloween and our school's Character Day celebrations.
Joe read Garrett The Hobbit this summer - so when we asked Garrett which character from a book he would dress-up as this year - he made no hesitation to say, "Bilbo Baggins". He began scouring his closet for items to complete his "look" The only thing we had to purchase was a gold ring and some fake fur to make hobbit feet. They had the BEST time when I told him that his shirt was too crisp and white for a Hobbit that has been traveling on his adventures - I instructed them to go out back and roll it in the dirt. Well, an hour later, we had one dirty, dusty shirt and two children covered in red clay - but it was worth it to "authenticate" the look.
Since Olivia is fairly new to glasses, she picked "Princess Peepers" as her character to dress up as. It was a win-win - as Olivia always wants to dress up as a princess and Princess Peepers is a story of a princess who wears glasses and meets a Prince that wears them as well.
The HAUL
Garrett was SUPER EXCITED that his Math homework for the night was to count and graph all his candy he received. What a great idea!!
They counted, ate, and traded pieces. It's fun to watch because when they're done (and in bed) we know that their abundance candy won't be missed when Joe and I snag a few pieces for ourselves.
This year Character Day at school was two days after Halloween. So they got to put their costumes on again and enjoy fun parties in each of their classes.
Their parties were at the exact same time - so this momma was shuffling running back and forth to catch all the fun - luckily they are just 3 doors down from each other!
